Timex Unveils Automatic GMT Pilot Watch With Striking Two-Tone Rotating Bezel

Timex and Pan Am are back with another aviation-inspired timepiece, and this one leans heavily into the romance of long-haul flying. The new Pan Am x Timex Waterbury Automatic GMT brings together vintage airline style, a mechanical movement, and practical dual-time functionality in a watch designed for travelers and aviation watch fans.

The latest model, officially listed as the Pan Am x Timex Waterbury Automatic GMT TW2Y94300X6, marks a notable upgrade over earlier Pan Am-themed Timex watches. While previous releases included quartz-powered models such as chronographs and day-date watches, this new version uses an automatic mechanical movement, giving it stronger appeal among collectors who prefer traditional watchmaking.

The watch features a 41.5mm brushed stainless steel case with a thickness of 13.5mm. On the front, Timex has used an anti-reflective double-domed K1 mineral crystal, adding a slightly vintage look while improving visibility. The overall design keeps the Waterbury line’s classic character but adds clear pilot-watch details inspired by the golden age of air travel.

One of the standout features is the black-and-blue bidirectional rotating bezel. Paired with a blue-and-white triangle GMT hand, it allows the wearer to track a second time zone, making the watch useful for frequent travelers or anyone working across different regions. The silver-white dial keeps things clean and readable, with luminous hour markers for low-light visibility.

Pan Am branding is a major part of the design. The airline’s famous globe emblem appears at 9 o’clock, balancing the date window at 3 o’clock. The recognizable blue logo is also placed on the oversized crown and can be seen again through the exhibition caseback. These details give the watch a strong nostalgic identity without making the dial feel overcrowded.

The watch comes fitted with an integrated 20mm stainless steel bracelet. Timex has included quick-release bars, a push-button butterfly clasp, and tool-free adjustable sizing links, making it easier for owners to resize or swap the bracelet without visiting a watchmaker.

The Pan Am connection is more than just a style choice. The airline played an important role in the history of GMT watches. In the early 1950s, Pan Am needed a reliable dual-time watch for pilots operating international routes. That request helped lead to the creation of one of the most famous GMT watches ever made, setting the template for the two-tone day-and-night bezel that remains popular today.

In recent years, the Pan Am name has appeared on watches from several brands, but Timex has used the partnership to create accessible, retro-inspired models with broad appeal. This new automatic GMT feels like one of the most enthusiast-focused releases in the collaboration so far, thanks to its mechanical movement, aviation heritage, and practical travel-watch features.

For now, the Pan Am x Timex Waterbury Automatic GMT is available only in India. It is priced at INR 64,995, which is roughly around $678. Timex has not yet confirmed whether the watch will launch globally, but previous Pan Am x Timex models have reached international markets, so a wider release in regions such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe remains possible.

With its automatic movement, vintage airline branding, dual-time display, and stainless steel build, the new Timex Pan Am Waterbury Automatic GMT could become an appealing choice for collectors looking for an affordable aviation-style GMT watch with real historical flavor.
