TikTok Unveils AI-Driven Keyword Filters for Personalized Content Control

TikTok has unveiled its latest innovation: AI-powered Smart Keyword Filters, designed to help users curate their For You page by filtering out unwanted content. This enhancement goes beyond the existing keyword filters, employing artificial intelligence to exclude content with similar or synonymous keywords.

For instance, if you choose to filter out “remodeling,” the tool will also block related terms like “renovation” and “renovations.” TikTok plans to offer users the ability to choose or remove specific keywords from this expanded filter list. Additionally, the platform will soon increase the keyword limit from 100 to 200 and streamline the process for adding them in bulk. Over time, as more users engage with this feature, the company expects the AI’s precision to improve.

In another exciting development, TikTok’s “Manage Topics” feature, first piloted in the U.S. in August 2024, is now globally accessible. This tool allows you to tailor your For You feed by adjusting the visibility of specific topics such as sports, travel, humor, current affairs, dance, and food. To use this feature, go to Settings, select “Content Preferences,” and click on “Manage Topics,” where you can customize the amount of content you see on these themes.

Moreover, TikTok has launched a new educational guide to help users optimize their For You feed. This initiative aims to enhance user experience by providing clear instructions and insights into customizing their content preferences.
