Thypoch Unveils Ksana 21mm f/3.5: A Budget-Friendly, Ultra-Compact Ultra-Wide Lens for Full-Frame Shooters

Thypoch is expanding its lineup with the Ksana 21mm f/3.5, an ultra-wide-angle lens designed to be both compact and budget-friendly while still delivering strong image quality. Aimed at photographers who want a lightweight wide prime for travel, street, architecture, and landscapes, this new 21mm option focuses on sharpness, clean rendering, and a durable build without inflating the price.

According to the manufacturer’s MTF charts, the Ksana 21mm f/3.5 stays relatively sharp across the frame even when used wide open, including toward the edges where many ultra-wide lenses tend to soften. That’s especially appealing for landscape and cityscape shooters who want consistent detail from corner to corner without having to stop down heavily.

Optical imperfections also appear to be well controlled. The lens is said to keep distortion and chromatic aberration to a minimum, which can make a noticeable difference for architectural lines, high-contrast scenes, and wide shots with lots of fine detail. While no specific measurements were shared, the intent is clear: a cleaner image that requires less correction in post-processing.

A nine-blade aperture is another highlight, helping the lens produce sunstars as early as f/4. For wide-angle photographers who like dramatic starbursts around streetlights or the sun at golden hour, that can be a fun creative advantage without needing to close the aperture excessively.

Thypoch also includes what it calls “Epoch Coating 73,” a coating intended to add a subtle amber warmth to photos—at least when the camera’s white balance doesn’t fully neutralize it. In practical terms, this could give images a slightly vintage or film-like warmth straight out of camera, depending on your settings and shooting conditions.

This is a manual-focus-only lens, but that’s less of a drawback at 21mm than it might be on longer focal lengths. Ultra-wide lenses naturally deliver a deep depth of field, making zone focusing a simple and effective way to shoot quickly. The Ksana 21mm can also focus as close as around 0.5 meters, which should be useful for wide environmental compositions and creative near-to-far perspective shots.

Build quality looks equally promising. The housing is made entirely of aluminum, giving the lens a sturdy, premium feel while still keeping it compact for everyday carry. Between the metal construction, edge-to-edge sharpness claims, minimal distortion, and sunstar-friendly aperture design, the Thypoch Ksana 21mm f/3.5 positions itself as an appealing affordable ultra-wide lens for photographers who value simplicity, portability, and character.
