Threads Surpasses 275 Million Monthly Active Users

Meta’s social network, Threads, is making headlines with its impressive milestone of 275 million monthly active users, as announced on Sunday. Adam Mosseri, the Meta executive steering both Threads and Instagram, expressed gratitude for the community’s support while acknowledging the ongoing evolution and challenges of the platform.

Threads, launched in July 2023 as an alternative following Elon Musk’s acquisition of X, has swiftly attracted a massive user base, establishing itself as a major contender among text-centric social networks. The platform’s growth trajectory has been remarkable, reaching 150 million users in April, soaring to 200 million by August, and adding another 75 million in just three months.

Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, highlighted that Threads is seeing an influx of a million new sign-ups daily, as revealed during the company’s Q3 2024 conference call. Despite the impressive growth, Threads faces ongoing challenges, particularly surrounding moderation issues that have left some users frustrated.

The rapid expansion of Threads showcases its potential within the social media landscape, promising more developments as it continues to address and refine user experience and community standards.
