The Witcher 3 Remastered Gives Xbox Owners a Free PC Copy Through Xbox Play Anywhere
CD Projekt Red has confirmed great news for Xbox players: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered will support Xbox Play Anywhere when it launches on September 29, 2026. That means players who already own The Witcher 3 on Xbox Series X|S will be able to claim the Windows PC version at no extra cost through the Microsoft Store.
The announcement was shared by CD Projekt Red Japan, which clarified how the new benefit will work alongside the upcoming remastered update. Once Xbox Play Anywhere support goes live, eligible Xbox owners will automatically receive access to the PC version using the same Microsoft account. This makes it easier for players to continue Geralt’s journey across console and PC without buying the game again.
For fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, this is a welcome upgrade. Xbox Play Anywhere allows supported games to be purchased once and played across Xbox consoles and Windows PC. In many cases, save data also syncs through Xbox Live, letting players switch between platforms while keeping their progress intact.
This is especially useful for a massive RPG like The Witcher 3, where players can spend dozens or even hundreds of hours exploring the Continent, completing monster contracts, upgrading gear, and making story choices that shape the world around them.

The Microsoft Store PC version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered will carry a CERO Z rating, Japan’s classification for games intended for players aged 18 and older. According to the company, this marks the first time one of its PC titles has received a CERO rating.
The studio also made it clear that this rating only applies to the Microsoft Store version in Japan. Existing PC versions available through other storefronts will not be affected by the change.
