Testing Suggests Pixel 11 Gaming Problems Aren’t Entirely Tensor G6’s Fault

Pixel 11 Gaming Performance Raises Concerns After Honkai: Star Rail Test

The Pixel 11 is drawing attention for the wrong reason after a demanding gaming test revealed surprisingly weak performance in Honkai: Star Rail. While many expected Google’s latest phone to deliver smoother gameplay, the results suggest that the issue may not be limited to raw chip power alone.

In testing with the Vulkan graphics API, the Pixel 11 averaged only 19.1 frames per second. Even more concerning, its 1% low dropped to just 6.9 fps, meaning players could experience heavy stuttering during intense scenes. For a modern flagship smartphone, that level of performance is far below what gamers typically expect.

The clock speed data gives a clearer picture of what may be happening. During a 20-minute gaming session, both Pro CPU clusters reportedly stayed at only around 0.46 to 0.47 GHz. Meanwhile, the Ultra core, which can reach up to 4.1 GHz, quickly fell to roughly 1.1 to 1.46 GHz.

That behavior suggests the phone is not fully using its available CPU resources during gameplay. Instead of distributing the workload efficiently across multiple cores, the Pixel 11 appears to rely heavily on one active core while several others remain underutilized. In simple terms, the device seems to be leaving performance on the table.

This could point to a scheduling problem rather than a simple hardware limitation. If the software is not assigning tasks properly across the CPU cores, gaming performance can suffer even when the processor is technically capable of doing more. Poor workload distribution can lead to lower frame rates, increased stutter, and an overall less responsive experience.

The gap becomes even more noticeable when compared with rival flagship phones tested under similar conditions. The Xiaomi 15S Pro reached an average of 57.6 fps, while the iQOO 15 managed 59.1 fps. Both devices delivered nearly three times the average frame rate of the Pixel 11 in the same game, highlighting how far behind Google’s phone appears to be in this particular workload.

For mobile gamers, this matters. Honkai: Star Rail is a visually demanding title, and smooth performance is essential for an enjoyable experience. An average of 19.1 fps can make gameplay feel sluggish, while sharp dips below 10 fps can break immersion completely.

The good news is that if the main problem is CPU scheduling, there may be room for improvement through software updates. Better performance tuning, improved thermal management, or game-specific optimizations could help the Pixel 11 use its cores more effectively in the future.

Still, as things stand, the Pixel 11’s gaming performance in Honkai: Star Rail looks disappointing compared with competing high-end Android phones. Unless future updates address the issue, users who prioritize mobile gaming may want to watch closely before choosing the Pixel 11 as their next device.
