Minisforum MS-S1 Max-P495 Launches as a High-End AMD Mini PC With 192GB RAM
Minisforum has officially started selling the MS-S1 Max-P495, a compact but extremely powerful AMD mini PC first shown during IFA 2026. At the time of its reveal, the company had not confirmed pricing, but the system is now listed for purchase with a premium configuration and an equally premium price tag.
The Minisforum MS-S1 Max-P495 is available in a single configuration featuring 192GB of LPDDR5x memory and a 2TB SSD. This model is priced at $7,399, placing it firmly in workstation territory rather than the typical consumer mini PC market.
The key upgrade over the standard MS-S1 Max is memory capacity. While the previous model tops out at 128GB of RAM, the new MS-S1 Max-P495 raises that ceiling to 192GB. Even more importantly for AI and graphics-heavy workloads, up to 160GB of that memory can be allocated as VRAM. That is a major increase compared with the earlier model, which supported up to 96GB of VRAM allocation.
At the heart of the system is AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 processor. This chip supports faster LPDDR5x memory speeds of up to 8,533MT/s, giving the mini PC extra bandwidth for demanding applications. The integrated Radeon 8065S graphics also offers an improvement over the Radeon 8050S used in the previous version, thanks to higher clock speeds.
These upgrades make the MS-S1 Max-P495 especially interesting for users working with artificial intelligence, local large language models, high-memory creative workflows, and professional computing tasks. Minisforum claims the system can run DeepSeek V4 Flash with 284 billion parameters, highlighting its focus on AI performance despite its compact size.
Outside of the processor, memory, and graphics improvements, the rest of the hardware is largely unchanged from the regular MS-S1 Max. The mini PC includes two M.2 slots, each supporting SSDs up to 8TB, allowing for a maximum internal storage capacity of up to 16TB. It also includes a PCIe x16 slot operating with PCIe 4.0 x4 bandwidth, giving users some room for expansion.
Connectivity is another strong point. The MS-S1 Max-P495 comes with two USB4 v2 ports and two standard USB4 ports, making it suitable for high-speed external storage, docking stations, displays, and other professional accessories.
The chassis design appears to remain the same as the non-P495 model, and the cooling system does not seem to have received a major redesign. That means the biggest reasons to choose this version are the upgraded Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 chip, faster memory support, increased RAM capacity, and much larger VRAM allocation.
For users who need a compact AI workstation or a mini PC capable of handling extremely memory-intensive workloads, the Minisforum MS-S1 Max-P495 could be a compelling option. However, its $7,399 price makes it a specialized machine aimed at professionals, developers, researchers, and AI enthusiasts rather than general users.
Those who do not need 192GB of RAM, faster LPDDR5x memory, or 160GB VRAM allocation may find better value in the standard MS-S1 Max. That version starts at $3,799 with 128GB of RAM, making it significantly more affordable while still offering strong performance for many advanced workloads.
