Owners of Tesla Model Y and older Model 3 vehicles have a reason to look forward to upcoming updates, as Tesla is set to roll out the Adaptive High Beam mode to these models. After introducing the feature with the refreshed Model 3, known as the Model 3 Highland, it appears that the adaptive lighting technology will soon be extended to more of Tesla’s electric vehicles.
Tesla has submitted documentation to the European Union’s regulatory bodies that indicate the “introduction of adaptive high beam” as a pending software enhancement for both the Model Y and older Model 3 units. This suggests that an update will provide this advanced lighting feature to vehicles equipped with PixCell matrix headlights, which are capable of displaying the Tesla logo.
This finding comes after the Adaptive High Beam mode was confirmed for the Highland variant of the Model 3. Given that approvals for the feature date back several months, the software update that unlocks the high beams for the Model Y could potentially be released later in the current month.
Though it’s uncertain when the Adaptive High Beam mode will reach Tesla’s US models, it appears that regulatory approvals in Europe have been secured, paving the way for Tesla’s use of matrix headlights that have long been utilized by European automakers.
The Adaptive High Beam functionality enhances nighttime visibility and safety by dynamically adjusting the headlight beams to avoid dazzling other drivers, while still illuminating the road ahead to the maximum extent.
This upgrade applies not only to older Tesla Model 3 cars but is also expected for recent Model Y and Model S/X vehicles. As Tesla has just introduced the updated Model 3 Highland in the US market, it’s likely that the company will prioritize this model for the adaptive headlights update before implementing it in the Model Y, which is anticipated to undergo its own Juniper refresh in the near future.
For Tesla owners looking to enhance their EV charging setup, the 48A Tesla Wall Connector with a 24″ cable is available for purchase on Amazon.
The rollout of the Adaptive High Beam mode represents part of Tesla’s ongoing efforts to improve the functionality and convenience of their electric vehicles through software updates. With these advancements, the company continues to refine the user experience and align safety features with the latest technology standards.
