Tesla Cybertruck Embarks on a 1,340-Mile Journey with a YouTuber at the Wheel

Tesla’s much-anticipated Cybertruck has recently been put to the test on a lengthy road trip spanning 1,340 miles. A YouTuber documented the journey, which included 12 charging stops, a testament to the electric pickup’s lower-than-expected efficiency.

During the course of the road trip, bystanders frequently stopped to examine the Cybertruck, which led to an additional two-hour deduction from the total travel time. Thus, the entire trip took 25 hours, but if not for the numerous charging stops required, the journey could have been reduced to approximately 20 hours. The range appeared to improve once the YouTuber had driven in the milder climate of California as opposed to cold Texas, particularly after closing the tonneau cover.

Cybertruck’s Road Trip Feedback: Hits and Misses

Besides the noted range limitations, another point of contention was the charging experience. Due to the Cybertruck’s considerable length, the charging cable barely reaches the vehicle. Drivers have to park extremely close to the charger and exert some effort to connect the cable, leaving little room for manoeuvrability.

The pickup’s design seems to attract a lot of attention and, consequently, fingerprints, being especially prone to showing smudges. Another technical hiccup occurred when the infotainment screen turned black after around 12 hours of continous driving, necessitating the use of the Tesla app to control the vehicle functions until the screen eventually reset itself after a prolonged shutdown at the end of the trip.

Despite these challenges, the YouTuber lauded various aspects of the Cybertruck, including its smooth steering, responsive touchscreen, expansive dashboard, sophisticated LED interior lighting, roomy cabin, superior backup camera, and overall driving experience. He described the Cybertruck as an impressive vehicle, noting that its interior and build quality may well be among Tesla’s finest work to date, raising expectations for future Tesla models.

As more real-world use cases like this road trip unfold, they offer valuable insights into the functionality and performance of the Cybertruck. Such experiences are essential for Tesla to iron out any inefficiencies and enhance the Cybertruck’s usability for potential customers.
