This peculiar setup has sparked speculation that Tesla might be deploying the base aero wheel covers as a temporary solution to circumvent the problems associated with the original Cyber wheel covers. This hypothesis stems from the observation that the smaller aero wheel covers are designed to fit within the confines of the wheel’s profile, unlike the larger “premium” versions that partially overlapped the tyre’s sidewall, leading to potential damage.
