TCL’s Sleek Metal Tablet Debuts at a Budget-Friendly Price with Launch Savings

TCL Tab A1 Plus NxtPaper Arrives With a Bigger Battery, Paper-Like Display, and Launch Discount

TCL has introduced a refreshed version of its Tab A1 Plus tablet, bringing a few meaningful upgrades for users who want an affordable large-screen tablet for reading, streaming, studying, and everyday productivity. The new model is called the TCL Tab A1 Plus NxtPaper, and its biggest attraction is the addition of TCL’s NxtPaper display technology.

The tablet keeps the same large 12.2-inch display size as the original Tab A1 Plus, but the viewing experience is now designed to feel more comfortable for reading and long sessions. TCL’s NxtPaper technology gives the screen a paper-like appearance, helping reduce glare while making ebooks, documents, web pages, and notes easier on the eyes. The tablet also includes an NxtPaper Key, allowing users to quickly switch between ink paper mode, color paper mode, and standard display mode.

The 12.2-inch IPS display offers a 3:2 aspect ratio, which is useful for productivity tasks such as browsing, writing, note-taking, and working with documents. It features a 2400 x 1600 resolution, a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate, and up to 500 nits of brightness. For a budget-friendly tablet, these display specs make the Tab A1 Plus NxtPaper stand out, especially for users looking for a large Android tablet with a sharp and responsive screen.

Another major upgrade is battery life. TCL has equipped the Tab A1 Plus NxtPaper with a large 10,000 mAh battery, an improvement over the 8,000 mAh battery found in the original version. Charging has also been upgraded, with support for 33 W wired charging instead of the previous 20 W charging speed. This should make the tablet more practical for students, travelers, and anyone who needs a device that can last through long work or entertainment sessions.

Performance is handled by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, built on a 4 nm process. The processor includes two ARM Cortex-A76 performance cores clocked up to 2.2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. While this is not a flagship chip, it should be capable enough for daily tablet tasks such as video streaming, web browsing, online classes, social media, reading, and light productivity.

The tablet comes with 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. TCL also includes support for up to 10 GB of virtual RAM, which may help with multitasking. For users who need more space for files, videos, books, photos, or apps, storage can be expanded by up to 2 TB with a microSD card.

Camera hardware has also received a small improvement. The front-facing camera is now an 8 MP sensor, upgraded from the 5 MP selfie camera on the original model. This should help improve video calls, online meetings, and virtual classes. The rear camera remains an 8 MP unit.

The TCL Tab A1 Plus NxtPaper also includes stylus support, making it a more versatile option for note-taking, sketching, annotating documents, or navigating the interface. Other features include quad speakers, dual microphones, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, and a metal unibody design.

Despite carrying a larger battery, the tablet remains impressively slim at just 6.7 mm thick. It weighs 556 grams, slightly more than the original Tab A1 Plus, which weighs 542 grams. TCL has also added an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance, giving the device extra durability for everyday use.

The TCL Tab A1 Plus NxtPaper is available in a single Aerolite Grey color option. Its regular price is $399, which is $100 higher than the original model. However, TCL is offering a launch discount that brings the price down to $299 for a limited time.

With its large 12.2-inch NxtPaper display, bigger 10,000 mAh battery, stylus support, expandable storage, and slim metal body, the TCL Tab A1 Plus NxtPaper could be an appealing choice for buyers looking for an affordable Android tablet focused on reading comfort, productivity, and entertainment.
