TCL P80 and TCL P80 Pro Debut With OLED Displays, 120Hz Refresh Rates, and Competitive Prices
TCL has expanded its P80 smartphone lineup with two more models: the TCL P80 and TCL P80 Pro. Positioned below the top-end P80 Ultra, these new phones aim to deliver premium display quality, solid performance, and long-term software support at more affordable prices.
Both smartphones feature large OLED screens, modern connectivity, and capable camera systems, but there are a few key differences buyers should know before choosing between them. The standard TCL P80 skips NxtPaper technology, while the TCL P80 Pro offers a more premium experience but still leaves out the telephoto camera found on the higher-end model.
The TCL P80 comes with a 6.83-inch OLED display, matching the screen size of the rest of the P80 family. It offers a sharp 2772 × 1280 resolution, a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, peak brightness of up to 3200 nits, and a 2560Hz touch response rate. That combination should make the phone feel responsive for gaming, scrolling, and everyday use, while also helping visibility in bright outdoor conditions.
Unlike the P80 Pro and P80 Ultra, the regular TCL P80 does not include NxtPaper technology. That means it misses out on the paper-like viewing experience and e-reader-style features that TCL uses to reduce glare and make long reading sessions more comfortable.
Powering the TCL P80 is the Dimensity 7300 Elite processor, paired with 8GB of RAM. Buyers can choose between 128GB and 256GB of internal storage, giving users enough room for apps, photos, videos, and games.
For photography, the TCL P80 uses a dual rear camera setup. The main camera is a 50MP sensor with an f/1.88 aperture, optical image stabilization, and electronic image stabilization. It is joined by an 8MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, making it useful for landscape shots, group photos, and wider scenes. On the front, the phone includes a 32MP selfie camera for video calls and social media content.
TCL is also including MuseFilm filters, giving users extra creative options when editing or capturing photos directly on the device.
Battery life is one area where the TCL P80 differs from its more expensive siblings. It comes with a 5,000mAh battery, which is smaller than the 5,800mAh battery used in the higher models. However, it still supports 45W wired fast charging, which should help reduce downtime when the battery runs low.
The TCL P80 also includes several useful extras, such as an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, stereo speakers with DTS surround sound, Wi-Fi 6, and eSIM support. TCL is promising three major operating system upgrades and seven years of security updates, which is a strong commitment for a phone in this price range.
The TCL P80 is available in two color options: Midnight Blue and Sunlit Gold. In Europe, pricing starts at €349 for the 128GB model, while the 256GB version costs €379.
The TCL P80 Pro sits above the standard model and offers a feature set closer to the P80 Ultra. The biggest difference is that the P80 Pro does not include a dedicated telephoto rear camera. This means users still get many of the premium features of the upper-tier model, but without the added zoom-focused camera hardware.
Like the regular P80, the TCL P80 Pro is available in Midnight Blue and Sunlit Gold. It also receives three operating system upgrades and seven years of security updates, matching the standard model’s long-term support promise.
The TCL P80 Pro is priced at €429 for the 256GB version and €499 for the 512GB model.
With the P80 and P80 Pro, TCL is targeting buyers who want large OLED displays, smooth 120Hz performance, modern design, and long software support without paying flagship-level prices. The TCL P80 is the more affordable choice, while the P80 Pro adds a more premium display experience with NxtPaper technology and higher storage options.
