Taiwan Smartphone Shipments Top 5 Million in 2025 as iPhone 17 Reshapes the Market

Taiwan’s smartphone market saw a noticeable surge in late 2025, with monthly shipments climbing past 500,000 units in both October and November. The big driver behind that jump was strong demand for Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup, which helped push Apple’s momentum to the forefront during the peak shopping period.

By December, however, shipments eased to roughly 400,000 units. Even with that month-to-month dip, Apple continued to hold a commanding position in Taiwan, maintaining close to half of the market. That level of share underscores how influential the iPhone remains locally, especially when a new generation lands and demand spikes across carriers and retailers.

The broader takeaway from these figures is that Taiwan’s smartphone shipments in 2025 were heavily shaped by release-cycle buying. When a major launch like the iPhone 17 series hits shelves, shipments can surge quickly, then cool off once the initial wave of upgrades slows and year-end inventory settles.

For buyers, this pattern often translates into the widest availability and strongest early interest immediately after a flagship release, followed by a more measured market in the months that follow. For brands and sellers, it’s another reminder that launch timing and supply planning can make a dramatic difference in monthly shipment performance—particularly in a market where Apple can still capture around 50% share.
