Synopsys is celebrating 30 years in India with a major expansion: a new research and development center in Bengaluru. Spanning 455,000 square feet at Bagmane Capital, the facility underscores the company’s long-term commitment to India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem and its role as a global hub for engineering innovation.
The Bengaluru center will focus on core areas that power modern chip creation and system innovation, including electronic design automation (EDA), semiconductor intellectual property (IP), verification, and system design. By concentrating these disciplines under one roof, Synopsys aims to accelerate next-generation chip design workflows, improve verification efficiency, and strengthen its IP portfolio for customers around the world.
Top leadership was on hand for the inauguration, with president and CEO Sassine Ghazi and executive chair and founder Aart de Geus marking the milestone. Their presence highlights the strategic importance of India within the company’s global R&D footprint and the pivotal role Bengaluru plays as a technology powerhouse.
With its sizable footprint and location in one of India’s premier tech parks, the new center is poised to draw top engineering talent and foster collaboration across EDA tools, advanced verification, and system-level design. The move aligns with broader industry momentum in the country, as demand for high-performance computing, AI, automotive, and connectivity solutions fuels the need for faster, more reliable semiconductor development.
As Synopsys begins its fourth decade in India, the Bengaluru R&D center represents both a celebration of past achievements and a launchpad for future breakthroughs. Expect the facility to deepen partnerships, sharpen innovation in chip design and verification, and help shape the next wave of semiconductor technology originating from India.
