Starfinder: Afterlight Races Toward the $500K Milestone on Kickstarter

Starfinder: Afterlight smashes its Kickstarter goal in 80 minutes, races toward the half‑million mark

Barcelona’s Epictellers Entertainment has burst onto the scene with Starfinder: Afterlight, a turn-based CRPG set in Paizo’s science-fantasy Starfinder universe. The Kickstarter campaign went live on October 7, 2025, and blew past its $87,179 target in just 80 minutes. Within hours it cleared $200,000, and it has since surged beyond $470,000 from roughly 7,900 backers—with momentum still building and 26 days remaining before the campaign closes on November 6.

Billed by its creators as “Divinity: Original Sin meets Guardians of the Galaxy,” Starfinder: Afterlight blends tactical, party-based combat with a character-driven space adventure. The studio, founded in 2023, says it’s focused on emotionally resonant storytelling and has already self-funded the game’s core development. The Kickstarter is intended to expand features and polish, including stronger voice work and additional refinement as the project moves toward release.

Backers aren’t just spectators. Reward tiers include access to a Closed Beta, a Digital Steam key, Akitonian in-game dice, a custom Discord role, an exclusive Kickstarter wallpaper, a Collector’s Player Core Rulebook, Enemy Miniatures and Companion Miniatures STL packs, and even an extra copy to bring a friend along to the Pact Worlds.

Veteran actor and director Neil Newbon, known to RPG fans for bringing Astarion to life in Baldur’s Gate 3, is leading voice direction. Players can tailor the challenge with multiple difficulty settings, from a relaxed Story mode to a punishing Nightmare mode.

Co-founder Ricard Pillosu framed the campaign as a collaboration with a passionate community, saying, “We’re thrilled to unveil Starfinder: Afterlight in partnership with Paizo. This marks the beginning of a journey we want to take alongside Starfinder fans everywhere.”

The current roadmap targets a Steam Early Access launch in Q2 2026 with Act 1, offering about 10 to 15 hours of content that will evolve based on player feedback. The full release is slated for 2027.

The eruption of support underscores a growing hunger for narrative-driven CRPGs in the post–Baldur’s Gate 3 era. With expectations sky-high, Epictellers acknowledges the pressure—Pillosu even admits the team is “more scared about huge success than a bit of failure.” For now, Starfinder: Afterlight is one of the year’s standout crowdfunding stories, and it’s only just getting started.
