Apple Vision Pro’s Slam Dunk: Live NBA Courtside in Immersive 3D

Apple Vision Pro is finally getting live sports, and it’s a big one: select Los Angeles Lakers games are coming to the headset. Through a new agreement with Spectrum SportsNet, a slate of Lakers matchups from the 2025–26 NBA season will stream on Vision Pro in immersive 3D, potentially giving Apple’s $3,499 headset the mainstream moment it’s been waiting for.

The specific games will be announced later this year, with the first broadcasts planned for early 2026 via Spectrum SportsNet’s dedicated Vision Pro app. Apple says the experience is designed to make viewers feel like they’re right in the middle of the action, thanks to immersive capture using Blackmagic Design’s URSA Cine Immersive Live camera system.

Beyond live broadcasts, full game replays and highlights are set to be available in select countries and regions through the Spectrum SportsNet and NBA apps. Fans who want even deeper coverage can also opt for NBA League Pass to access more content, including real-time player and game stats.

Vision Pro is Apple’s first spatial computing headset, blending augmented reality and virtual reality to let users interact with digital content in their physical space. While the device has drawn attention for its cutting-edge tech, adoption has been slowed by a high price tag, a relatively limited app ecosystem, and the need for an external battery pack. Live sports, however, are one of the rare content categories with the power to attract a wider audience to new platforms.

If the Lakers experience delivers the sense of presence Apple is promising, it could become the headset’s must-have feature. Whether immersive NBA action turns into Vision Pro’s long-awaited killer app will come down to execution, availability, and how many fans are ready to watch courtside from their couch.
