Surgent Studios is turning heads with their upcoming psychological horror game, Dead Take, set to launch on July 31 for PC users via the Epic Games Store and Steam. This intriguing title delves into themes of deception and ambition, set against the backdrop of a Hollywood Hills mansion.
The game boasts a stellar cast. Jane Perry, famed for her roles in Dragon Age: The Veilguard and Baldur’s Gate 3, is among the notable actors. Alana Pearce, known for her appearances in Cyberpunk 2077 and V/H/S Beyond, also joins the lineup.
Adding to the allure, industry titans like Laura Bailey, recognizable from The Last of Us: Part II and Spider-Man 2, and Matthew Mercer from Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, will make cameo appearances. The excitement doesn’t stop there—Sam Lake from Remedy Entertainment, known for Alan Wake II and Max Payne, will also feature, alongside YouTuber and voice actor Connor Marc Colquhoun, known as CDawgVA.
At the heart of Dead Take’s narrative is Chase Lowry, played by Neil Newborn. Chase embarks on a gripping journey to uncover the fate of his missing friend, Vinnie Monroe, portrayed by Ben Starr. Vinnie mysteriously vanishes after a lavish Hollywood party.
Abubakar Salim, Creative Director at Surgent Studios, emphasized the importance of casting actors familiar with the industry’s pressures. He remarked that “Dead Take is about actors. We need those who’ve lived that glamor. The game explores the high ambition and the hidden rot within. It’s about the lies told to seize the spotlight and the monsters people become to maintain it. Each cast member has felt that pressure, and this was a chance to express it.”
This mix of compelling narrative and a remarkable cast makes Dead Take an anticipated release for psychological horror enthusiasts.
