Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Set for Full Physical Release on Switch 2 in 2026 by SEGA

SEGA is set to delight fans with the announcement that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will have a full physical cartridge release for the Nintendo Switch 2. This news comes as a relief to many who have been concerned about Nintendo’s trend of using Game-Key Cards that often only provide a game license.

The digital version of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be available in the 2025 holiday season, while the physical cartridge will hit the shelves in early 2026. SEGA assures fans that this physical release will include the complete base game, much to the joy of collectors and traditionalists who prefer tangible copies over digital downloads.

Although the price for the physical edition remains under wraps, the digital versions are set at $69.99 for the Standard Edition and $89.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition. Those with the original Nintendo Switch, including the OLED and Lite models, can already place pre-orders starting at $59.99.

A nifty upgrade option is available for those buying Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds for the original Switch who later purchase a Switch 2. They’ll be able to upgrade to the new console’s version for an additional cost, speculated to be around $10, allowing them to continue their gaming progress seamlessly.

While physical pre-orders are open for the original Switch, SEGA has not yet started pre-orders for the Switch 2 version.

The latest trailer reveals exciting customization options, with players able to combine racers, vehicle parts, and gadgets. SEGA is upping the ante in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, featuring over 40 vehicles, 70 gadgets, and more than 100 parts and decals. This enables the creation of thousands of unique custom vehicles, promising endless creativity and fun for gamers.
