Sony FX5 Leak Reveals Launch Date, New Full-Frame Sensor, and Major Video Upgrades
Sony’s popular FX3 cinema camera may finally be getting its long-awaited successor. More than five years after the FX3 made its debut in February 2021, fresh leak details suggest that Sony is preparing to introduce the Sony FX5, a new full-frame cinema camera aimed at creators, filmmakers, and professional video shooters.
According to the latest leaked information, the Sony FX5 is expected to be announced on July 22 at 3:00 p.m. London time. While many expected the camera to arrive as the Sony FX3 II, it now appears Sony may choose the FX5 name instead, positioning it as a more advanced model with a noticeable step up in performance.
One of the biggest rumored upgrades is a brand-new 16.6-megapixel full-frame sensor. This would replace the 12.9-megapixel sensor found in the FX3 and could give the FX5 a stronger advantage for high-quality video production.
