Game Science’s Black Myth: Wukong has achieved an unprecedented milestone, selling 10 million copies within the first 10 days of its release. This remarkable success highlights the game’s immense popularity across various gaming platforms. Although Black Myth: Wukong is officially released for platforms like PC and consoles, it has not been released for Android devices. Despite this, some technically adept individuals have managed to run it on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with an Adreno 750 GPU. However, the performance is far from ideal.
Running Black Myth: Wukong on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 smartphone results in extremely poor framerates and subpar visual quality. A short clip reveals that the game struggles to exceed 14 frames per second (FPS) during regular gameplay, occasionally peaking at 19 FPS. This low performance suggests that playing the game on an Android device was never the developer’s intention.
The technical details further highlight the challenges. The GPU clock speed holds at 1,000MHz, maintaining a temperature of 36.6 degrees Celsius with about 85-86 percent utilization. However, the CPU temperatures soar to a staggering 76 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the graphics quality is notably degraded, indicating that in-game settings were set to the lowest possible resolution.
It’s important to note that the game was made to run on Android through the use of specific emulation applications designed to facilitate the execution of PC games on mobile platforms. Despite this ingenuity, the egregious performance suggests that playing on devices designed for gaming, such as PCs or consoles, remains essential for an enjoyable experience.
While current Android smartphones struggle to run such graphically intensive games smoothly, the successful port of AAA titles to iPhone and iPad shows promise. It may only be a matter of time before Android catches up in delivering comparable gaming experiences. For those who haven’t yet experienced Black Myth: Wukong, it’s highly recommended to play it on more capable hardware to truly enjoy what the game has to offer.
