Shanling EC Zero T Max Launches as a Powerful Portable CD Player for Hi-Res Audio Fans
Shanling has introduced the EC Zero T Max, a premium portable CD player designed for listeners who still love physical discs but also want modern high-resolution audio features. Built as an upgraded version of the EC Zero T, the new model keeps the tube-based output design while adding a significantly more powerful headphone amplifier and improved digital-to-analog conversion.
At the heart of the Shanling EC Zero T Max is an upgraded 24-bit R2R DAC, developed to deliver greater output strength, a wider soundstage, and clearer audio detail. This makes the player especially appealing to audiophiles who want a compact device capable of driving demanding headphones without relying on a separate amplifier.
One of the biggest upgrades is the headphone output power. Through its 4.4 mm balanced connection, the EC Zero T Max can deliver up to 1,300 mW at 32 ohms in transistor amplifier mode. In tube amplifier mode, it can still produce up to 1,162 mW at 32 ohms. That level of power allows the player to handle high-end planar magnetic headphones with far more confidence than typical portable CD players.
The device supports both transistor and tube amplification, giving users two different listening styles. Bluetooth codec support includes aptX Adaptive, aptX, and SBC, allowing users to pair the CD player with compatible wireless headphones or speakers. While the EC Zero T Max is clearly aimed at wired hi-fi listening, the addition of Bluetooth gives it useful flexibility for everyday use.
The player is not limited to portable listening. It can also fit into a home audio or home theater setup through its digital output and analog line output. When used at home, it can be powered through a 5V, 2A USB-C power supply, helping preserve battery life during longer listening sessions.
