Seiko’s Ultraman Alarm Clock Turns Hero Mode Red When You Hit Snooze

Seiko Unveils Limited-Edition Talking Ultraman Alarm Clock for 60th Anniversary

Seiko Clock has launched a special Ultraman-themed talking alarm clock to celebrate the iconic hero’s 60th anniversary, and it is clearly designed for fans who want more than a standard bedside clock. The new Seiko JF860A combines nostalgic character design, voice alerts, and a clever light-up feature inspired by Ultraman’s famous color timer.

The JF860A is a limited-edition release, with only 2,078 units being produced worldwide. Priced at 16,500 yen including tax, or roughly $104, the collectible clock is aimed at Ultraman fans, Seiko collectors, and anyone who enjoys unique character merchandise with practical use.

The clock is designed as a bust of Ultraman, complete with a polyester cape suspended from a metal chain. The clock dial is built into the hero’s torso, giving it the look of a display piece rather than an ordinary alarm clock. Measuring 237 x 167 x 120 mm without the cape and weighing 465 g with it attached, this is a substantial item for a bedside table, shelf, or collector’s display.

Seiko uses a plastic case and front panel, while the clock itself runs on three AA batteries. It features a quartz movement with a stepped seconds hand, keeping the traditional reliability expected from Seiko Clock products.

The standout feature is the alarm sequence. When the alarm goes off, Ultraman’s voice greets the sleeper while the color timer on his chest lights up green. If the alarm is not stopped, the light begins flashing red and the voice warns that time is running out. Once the alarm is turned off, Ultraman delivers a closing message.

This detail directly references the classic Ultraman series, where the color timer flashes red when Ultraman has only three minutes of activity remaining. It is a small but charming touch that turns waking up into a mini Ultraman moment.

The alarm volume can be adjusted smoothly, giving owners control over how loud the voice and alert sounds are. Seiko has also included an alarm monitor function, allowing users to play the full alarm sequence whenever they want instead of waiting until morning. For collectors, this makes the clock feel more like an interactive Ultraman display item.

Availability is extremely limited. Out of the total 2,078 units, 1,798 are reserved for Japan, leaving only 280 units for the rest of the world. Each clock comes in a special 60th anniversary package and includes a commemorative card with an individual serial number, adding to its collectible appeal.

Seiko has released Ultraman-related products before, including special wristwatch collaborations inspired by the franchise. However, the JF860A stands apart because it is a full-sized talking alarm clock rather than a watch, making it a more playful and display-friendly tribute to the legendary character.

The Seiko JF860A officially went on sale on September 18. With such a small production run and strong Ultraman anniversary appeal, it is likely to attract attention quickly from collectors in Japan and overseas. For fans of classic tokusatsu, retro hero merchandise, or unusual alarm clocks, this limited-edition Ultraman clock is one of Seiko’s most memorable character releases in recent years.
