Hidden Code Lets OnePlus and Oppo Users Switch to the Native Phone Dialer
Some OnePlus and Oppo smartphone owners are getting a surprise new option after a recent software update: the ability to switch from Google Phone to the brands’ own built-in dialer app.
For years, Google Phone has been the default calling app on many OnePlus and Oppo devices. It works well for everyday calls, but many users have missed the original Oppo and OnePlus Phone app because of its cleaner integration, familiar interface, and extra features. Now, a newly discovered dialer code appears to unlock that native Phone app on supported devices without needing to download APK files or install anything manually.

After dialing the code in the current Phone app, a prompt should appear asking the user to restart the device. Once the phone reboots, the native Oppo or OnePlus Phone dialer may appear on the device. Users can then set it as the default calling app from the phone’s settings.
The feature is not available for every model yet. Reports suggest that it works on several newer OnePlus and Oppo smartphones, including devices from the OnePlus 12 series, OnePlus 13 series, Oppo Find X8 series, and some Nord CE models. However, there are a few important requirements.
To use the hidden dialer code successfully, the phone must be running Android 16 with the August security patch. It also needs software version 16.0.10.501 or newer. If a device is on an older build, the code may not activate the native dialer even if the phone is technically eligible.
For example, some devices such as the OnePlus Nord 4 already meet part of the requirement by running Android 16 with the August security update. However, the trick may not work yet if the software version is still on an older 16.0.05.x build. In that case, users may need to wait for the next system update before trying again.
One of the biggest reasons users are interested in the OnePlus and Oppo Phone dialer is call recording. Unlike Google Phone, the native dialer can record calls without playing the “This call is being recorded” announcement in supported regions. This has long been one of the most requested features among OnePlus and Oppo users.
The native Phone app also brings a refreshed user interface and several newer tools. These include AI-powered call summaries, Beacon Link support, and deeper integration with the latest ColorOS 16 and OxygenOS 16 features. It also works with Live Updates, allowing call-related activity and important information to appear in the system’s live activity area for quicker access.
Another interesting detail is that the app seems to already exist inside the phone’s software package. The hidden code does not appear to install a completely new app from outside the system. Instead, it simply unlocks or enables access to the native dialer that is already present in the firmware.
Availability still depends heavily on region. The method has reportedly worked on Indian variants of supported OnePlus and Oppo smartphones. However, users in Europe, the United States, and other markets may not see the same result, likely because of local rules around call recording and telecom software features.
For users in unsupported regions, the separate ODialer app may remain the only available alternative for now. It is still unclear whether OnePlus or Oppo plans to officially enable the native Phone dialer more widely in future OxygenOS and ColorOS updates.
For now, this hidden code gives eligible users a simple way to bring back the OnePlus and Oppo calling experience without sideloading apps.
