Apple Health App Gets Smarter With Apple Intelligence, New Health Age, Readiness Score, and Longevity Tools

Apple has unveiled a major redesign of its Health app, bringing deeper personalization, smarter insights, and new wellness tracking features powered by Apple Intelligence. Announced alongside the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, the updated app is designed to help users better understand their health data and turn it into practical guidance.

One of the biggest additions is a new Insights tab. Instead of simply displaying charts and numbers, the Health app will now summarize the most important and timely health information in one place. The goal is to make daily wellness data easier to understand, especially for users who track sleep, exercise, heart health, and fitness trends across Apple Watch and iPhone.

A standout feature is the new Health Age calculation. This tool compares your biological health indicators with your actual age, using information such as VO2 max, sleep patterns, activity levels, heart metrics, and blood-based biomarkers. By combining these data points, Apple Health can provide a clearer picture of how your body is performing compared with your chronological age.

Apple is also introducing a new longevity-focused section inside the Health app. This area evaluates key wellness categories including sleep, movement, cardiovascular health, and other long-term health factors. Users who want an even more detailed picture can add lab results to improve the app’s recommendations.

To support this, Apple announced a collaboration with Quest to offer a 50-biomarker lab panel priced at $119. This gives users access to health information that cannot be collected from an Apple Watch or iPhone alone, such as certain blood markers that may provide additional insight into overall wellness.

Apple Intelligence plays a central role in the Health app upgrade. The system is designed to analyze health trends and offer more useful suggestions based on personal data. For example, if the app detects that a user wants to improve cardio fitness, it may recommend adding interval training to a morning run. Apple says the app will also provide deeper guidance in areas such as fitness, heart health, recovery, and overall wellness.

Another major update is the introduction of a readiness score. This feature is expected to help users understand how prepared their body is for physical activity on a given day. By analyzing factors like sleep, recent exercise, recovery, and other health signals, the app can offer guidance on whether to push harder, take it easy, or focus on rest.

The redesigned Health app will also include in-depth movement assessments. These tools are intended to help users evaluate how well their body moves, which could be especially useful for people recovering from an injury, working on mobility, or monitoring changes as they age.

Apple says the experience can feel similar to having a coach nearby. During an assessment, a trainer can demonstrate specific movements for users to follow, helping them complete the evaluation more accurately and confidently.

With these updates, Apple is positioning the Health app as more than a place to store wellness data. It is becoming a more active health companion that can interpret information, highlight important changes, and offer personalized recommendations.

The updated Apple Health app is scheduled to roll out later this year, beginning with support for U.S. English.
