SCHENKER has just given its flagship KEY 17 Pro mobile workstation a robust upgrade, making it an even more compelling choice for power users. This latest version, known as the M24, boasts faster processors, upgraded wireless capabilities, and improved ports, positioning it as a state-of-the-art machine for demanding professionals.
One of the standout features of the M24 version is the inclusion of two Thunderbolt 5 connectors, each capable of sharing an impressive 80 Gbps bandwidth. This dynamic allocation means one port can handle a high-resolution DisplayPort 2.1 video connection at a maximum uncompressed resolution of 7680 x 4320 @ 72 Hz 10 bit, while the other can focus on a high-speed PCIe 5.0 external SSD. Alternatively, the bandwidth can be split to manage various peripherals through a multifunctional dock.
Powering the M24 is the new Intel i9-14900HX processor, a step up from last year’s i9-13900HX. Though the processor has changed, the core specs remain robust. Professionals can choose between the RTX 4080 or 4090 for the discrete GPU, and there are options to expand the memory up to 96GB DDR5-5600 RAM via two SO-DIMM slots. For storage, the machine offers a versatile combination of one PCIe 5.0 and two PCIe 4.0 slots.
The display options continue to impress with two 17.3-inch choices: a WQHD screen at 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution with 300 nits and 240 Hz, and a UHD option at 3840 x 2160 pixels resolution with 400 nits and 144 Hz. Both options support G-SYNC, Advanced Optimus, and a manual MUX switch, ensuring vibrant colors with 99% coverage of the sRGB and DCI-P3 color gamuts. To extend battery life, there’s an optional 60 Hz mode for the 99 Wh battery.
On the wireless front, the M24 gets an upgrade to the latest Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 standards, ensuring speedy and reliable connectivity. The LAN solution remains unchanged at 2.5 GbE speeds. When it comes to ports, in addition to the two Thunderbolt 5 connectors, users will find 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI 2.1, mini DP 1.4a video outputs, combo audio, and LAN jacks.
Other notable features include an FHD webcam and a certification for Varjo-ready VR applications, perfect for those in virtual reality development. Despite all the new features, the chassis profile and total system weight remain unchanged at 24.9 mm and 23.4 kg, respectively.
Pricing for the SCHENKER KEY 17 Pro (M24) starts at €3,299, which includes the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080, 16GB DDR5-5600 RAM, 500GB PCIe 4.0 SSD, and a 1440p display. Upgrading to the RTX 4090 will cost an additional €637, and opting for the 4K display adds €198 to the total.
With these impressive upgrades, SCHENKER’s KEY 17 Pro (M24) establishes itself as a top-tier choice for those needing a high-performance mobile workstation capable of handling the most demanding tasks.
