Samsung Flex Titanium Could Make the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Crease Less Noticeable
Samsung Display has revealed a new foldable OLED structure called Flex Titanium, a technology designed to address one of the biggest complaints about foldable phones: the visible crease running down the inner screen.
Since the first Galaxy Z Fold arrived in 2019, Samsung has continued refining its foldable design with stronger hinges, improved ultra-thin glass, and more durable display layers. Even so, the crease has remained one of the most noticeable compromises of the foldable phone experience. Flex Titanium appears to be Samsung’s latest attempt to make that fold line less distracting while also improving long-term durability.
The new structure uses two key components beneath the OLED panel. The first is a titanium-alloy film positioned under the display layer, while the second is a titanium plate that supports the full display module from below. Together, these materials are intended to strengthen the flexible screen area and reduce deformation caused by repeated folding and unfolding.
That is a major shift from Samsung’s earlier foldable display approach, which relied heavily on hinge design and softer under-display materials to manage stress around the folding area. By adding titanium-based reinforcement, Samsung may be aiming for a sturdier inner screen that holds its shape better over time.
Flex Titanium is expected to debut with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 series. If the technology performs well in everyday use, it could become one of the most important upgrades for Samsung’s next-generation foldable phones. A less visible crease would make the large inner display feel more like a traditional tablet screen, which could be a major selling point for users who have hesitated to buy foldables because of durability concerns.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup is also expected to arrive with premium pricing. Early pricing rumors suggest the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 could start at around $1,899 in the United States for the 256GB model. A higher-end Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra may start at about $2,099, making it one of Samsung’s most expensive foldable phones yet. In Europe, leaked figures point to possible starting prices of €1,999 for the standard model and €2,199 for the Ultra version. In Australia, rumored pricing suggests AUD 2,699 for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and AUD 2,999 for the Ultra.
These prices have not been officially confirmed, and final retail pricing may still change before launch.
Samsung is expected to share more details during its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22 in London. That event should reveal whether Flex Titanium is truly ready for mainstream use and how much of a difference it makes compared with previous Galaxy Z Fold models.
If Samsung can significantly reduce the crease while improving display durability, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series could become one of the most meaningful foldable upgrades in years. For shoppers waiting for a more polished foldable phone, Flex Titanium may be the feature that finally makes Samsung’s book-style foldable feel closer to a finished flagship experience.
