In brightness, the Odyssey G8 (G80HF) is rated to peak at 350 nits. One important detail for HDR fans: the monitor does not include Mini LED local dimming zones, which typically help HDR content look more impactful by boosting highlights and improving contrast in darker scenes. As a result, HDR performance will likely lean more toward basic HDR compatibility rather than the punchier look you’d expect from displays with advanced local dimming.
Connectivity is a strong point, especially for modern PCs and consoles. Samsung includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, which is useful for current-generation gaming systems and high-bandwidth gaming setups. There’s also a DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20) connection, a noteworthy addition for PC gamers who want cutting-edge bandwidth support for high resolutions and high refresh rates.
