The upcoming Galaxy S26 series is expected to make its debut early next year, bringing some exciting changes. Notably, the ‘Plus’ version is set to be replaced by a new ‘Edge’ variant, while the base model is being rebranded as the Galaxy S26 Pro. In addition to these changes, Samsung is enhancing battery capacities for most of the lineup, excluding the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Despite not adopting silicon-carbon technology, which has allowed some Chinese manufacturers to surpass 6,000mAh in their devices, Samsung is still stepping up its game. The Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge will feature slight battery boosts. According to the latest updates, these models will sport increased capacities of 4,300mAh and 4,200mAh, respectively. This is an improvement over their predecessors, which housed lower-capacity batteries.
Interestingly, the Galaxy S26 Edge is rumored to be slimmer than its predecessor, yet it will pack a larger battery. Samsung is likely utilizing advanced materials to achieve this, offering a notable upgrade for the upcoming release.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S26 Ultra maintains its 5,000mAh battery. However, it promises faster charging capabilities, potentially supporting up to 60W, compared to the previous 45W. There’s also speculation that Samsung might leverage AI for improved battery efficiency, even though the full transition to silicon-carbon technology might come with the Galaxy S27 series.
These enhancements show Samsung’s commitment to innovation, aiming to capture consumer interest with thoughtful upgrades and improvements across its flagship lineup.
