During the Mobile World Congress 2024, SK Chairman Chey Tae-won stopped by the Samsung Electronics booth, led through the exhibit by Samsung’s head of mobile business, TM Roh. Tae-won was introduced to Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series, noted as their first AI-integrated phone, and the upcoming Galaxy Ring, designed for health tracking.
The meeting fostered a noteworthy conversation, with both leaders expressing interest in AI technologies. Chey Tae-won proposed to TM Roh the prospect of discussing a partnership aligned with the Global Telco AI Alliance, which SK Telecom was promoting at their own booth. Tae-won expressed an intent to have a detailed discussion with TM Roh and SK Telecom CEO Ryu Young-sang, suggesting a meeting the following month to explore opportunities for collaboration. TM Roh reciprocated the sentiment, indicating a willingness to “cooperate well” with the initiative.
