Samsung is officially kicking off the One UI 8.5 rollout, and it’s set to be a big one. The update brings a fresh batch of new features, interface tweaks, and expanded AI tools to a wide range of Galaxy phones and tablets—more than 40 models in total. That means everything from entry-level Galaxy A devices to premium Galaxy S and Galaxy Z foldables, plus several Galaxy Tab models, will soon be in line for the upgrade.
After arriving preinstalled on the Galaxy S26 series (Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra), One UI 8.5 is now making its way to older devices as well. Samsung says the rollout begins today in Korea, with additional regions expected to follow in mid-May. As with most major Samsung updates, the broader global availability will likely take time, and it may be weeks—or even a few months—before every eligible device receives it.

So what’s new in One UI 8.5? Samsung is refining parts of the interface with updated menus and navigation bars designed to make everyday actions feel more streamlined. On top of the visual and usability updates, the headline changes lean heavily into AI.
One of the notable additions is an upgraded Photo Assist experience, aimed at giving users more control when refining AI-generated images. Samsung is also improving its Bixby voice assistant, positioning it as smarter and more helpful for daily tasks and on-device actions.
If your Galaxy device is on the list, keep an eye on Software update in Settings over the coming weeks. Even if the rollout has started, timing can vary based on model, region, and carrier approval—so two identical phones in different countries may not receive One UI 8.5 at the same time.
