Rhythm Heaven Groove Shows Off Its Beat-Packed Fun in Fresh Overview Trailer

Nintendo has released a fresh gameplay overview trailer for Rhythm Heaven Groove, giving fans a lively new look at the long-awaited music-rhythm action game coming to Nintendo Switch. Packed with offbeat challenges, catchy music, and the series’ signature sense of humor, the new entry looks ready to turn timing into pure chaos and fun.

Rhythm Heaven Groove asks players to rely on their ears as much as their reflexes. Across a colorful collection of rhythm-based games, players must press buttons in time with the beat while handling all kinds of strange and hilarious tasks. One moment you may be catching flying vegetables, and the next you could be bouncing fruit with your biceps or swinging sledgehammers to the rhythm.

The game features original music designed to keep players locked into the tempo, including tracks from well-known Japanese musician Tsunku♂. As with past entries in the Rhythm Heaven series, the key is not always watching the screen. Some games are built to trick your eyes, making it even more important to listen carefully for audio cues, rhythm patterns, and changes in tempo.

Solo players will have plenty to enjoy, with more than 80 single-player rhythm games included. Each activity brings its own unusual concept and timing challenge, creating a fast-paced mix of comedy, music, and precision.

One featured game, Hoop Trundling, sends players out for a rhythmic jog where they must jump over hoops at the perfect moment. The trick is listening for the “pa pi pu pe po” cue and jumping on the final beat.

Hop Stop N Roll introduces a roly-poly cat doll that jumps and rolls along to the music. Players must keep the rhythm steady as the action becomes increasingly playful and unpredictable.

Fruit Flex is another oddball challenge where players flex their biceps to bounce fruit into the right place. Even if a few pieces drop, there’s a mat waiting below, keeping the mood light while players focus on the beat.

Rhythm Heaven Groove also expands the fun with multiplayer modes. Up to four players can gather around one Nintendo Switch system for more than 30 multiplayer rhythm games. These modes allow friends to either work together toward a shared goal or compete to see who has the sharpest timing.

In Rhythm Tweezers, players take turns plucking a very hairy onion, using both hands and careful coordination. If the team loses the beat, it is game over.

Tennis Quest turns a tennis match into a fantasy-style battle, asking players to work together and defeat monsters through perfectly timed actions. It adds an adventurous twist to the game’s rhythm-based formula.

Cake Wait brings a snack-time challenge where players must grab their share of cake exactly when the clock strikes 3. Timing is everything, and there are no second servings.

A major new feature is Beatspell, a single-player mode that unlocks as players progress. In this mode, rhythm becomes magic. Players battle monsters by casting spells in time with the music, using well-timed button presses to launch attacks, heal themselves, and survive each encounter.

Beatspell adds a different flavor to the Rhythm Heaven formula by blending rhythm gameplay with light combat elements. Players will need to master the beat to unleash fire, recover health, and overcome enemies with musical precision.

Rhythm Heaven Groove is currently in development for Nintendo Switch and is scheduled to launch on July 2. With more than 80 solo games, over 30 multiplayer challenges, original music, and the new Beatspell mode, it is shaping up to be one of Nintendo’s most energetic and delightfully strange rhythm games yet.
