Cytus II is heading to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in 2027
Flyhigh Works and Rayark have officially announced that Cytus II, the hit rhythm game sequel from Rayark, is coming to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in 2027. The upcoming console release will bring one of mobile gaming’s most popular music rhythm experiences to a wider audience, complete with its signature futuristic style, emotional soundtrack, and fast-paced touch-based gameplay.
First released for iOS and Android in 2018, Cytus II has become a major name in the rhythm game genre, reaching more than 18 million downloads worldwide. Known for its polished presentation, immersive music selection, and distinctive visual design, the game follows in the footsteps of Rayark’s earlier rhythm titles such as DEEMO and VOEZ.
The Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions of Cytus II will include the songs already available in the mobile edition, along with new tracks and new characters created for the console release. More details are expected to be shared in the future as the game moves closer to its planned 2027 launch.
The release year is also notable because 2027 marks the 10th anniversary of VOEZ, another Rayark rhythm game that arrived as a launch title for the original Nintendo Switch. With Cytus II now making the move to Nintendo consoles, longtime fans of Rayark’s music games will have another major release to look forward to.
Cytus II features a massive library of more than 500 songs, covering a wide range of musical genres from Japanese and Taiwanese artists. Players can expect everything from electronic music and pop to rock, classical-inspired tracks, and experimental sounds. This broad soundtrack has been one of the game’s biggest strengths, giving rhythm game fans plenty of variety across different moods, tempos, and styles.
The game is designed for both newcomers and experienced rhythm players. Difficulty levels include Easy, Normal, and Chaos, allowing players to enjoy the music at their own pace or test their reflexes with more demanding note patterns. Whether you want a relaxed rhythm game session or a serious high-score challenge, Cytus II offers options for different skill levels.
Gameplay in Cytus II revolves around a moving scan line, referred to as a borderline, that travels up and down the screen in sync with the music. Notes appear as the song plays, and players must tap them at the exact moment they line up with the moving borderline. The note patterns are tied closely to each track’s melody and beat, making each performance feel interactive and musical.
This control style gives Cytus II a unique identity compared to many other rhythm games. Instead of simply following a fixed lane system, players react to notes across the screen while staying locked into the rhythm of the song. When everything clicks, the gameplay can feel almost like performing the music yourself.
Beyond its rhythm mechanics, Cytus II also features a futuristic story set in a world where technology has transformed both the internet and daily life. In this far-future setting, the boundary between the real world and virtual reality has become increasingly seamless.
At the center of the story is cyTus, a massive virtual internet space where people gather, communicate, and experience music in new ways. Within this digital world, a mysterious and legendary DJ known as Æsir suddenly rises to fame. No one knows who he really is, but his music captivates listeners on a deep emotional level, resonating not only in their ears but in their minds and souls.
The mystery grows when Æsir announces Æsir-FEST, a massive virtual concert featuring top vocalists and world-renowned DJs. The announcement spreads instantly across the globe, sparking one question above all others: Who is Æsir?
As the concert approaches, anticipation reaches historic levels. One hour before Æsir-FEST begins, the previous record for simultaneous online connections is broken, with millions of people tuning in from around the world. Everyone waits for the moment when Æsir will finally reveal the truth.
With its huge song list, stylish cyberpunk atmosphere, emotional storytelling, and upcoming new content, Cytus II could become one of the most exciting rhythm game releases on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in 2027. Fans of music games, anime-inspired visuals, and futuristic storytelling will want to keep an eye on this console version as more information is announced.
