Apple has unveiled new developer betas for iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1 Sequoia, introducing several advanced features under the Apple Intelligence suite. Among these, the standout is the Clean Up feature, which enables users to remove objects from photos seamlessly.
Clean Up allows users to remove objects by leveraging AI technology to recreate the background seamlessly. This technology can detect and address even the object’s shadows and reflections, ensuring the edited photo looks natural.
The feature offers smart detection capabilities, enabling users to remove an object with a single tap. Alternatively, users can circle or brush over unwanted elements for removal.
This capability mirrors a similar feature, Magic Eraser, which Google made available for Google Photos users earlier this year.
Apple first introduced the Apple Intelligence suite in July with iOS 18.1 dev beta. Early features included writing tools, SMS and Mail notification summaries, natural language search, memory creation in Photos, transcription for calls and voice recordings in Notes, as well as summaries and smart replies in Mail. Presently, Apple Intelligence is offered only in English and limited to users within the U.S.
