Retroid is giving fans their first real look at the Retroid Pocket 6 ahead of its initial shipping window, sharing a small set of live photos that finally move beyond the earlier promotional renders. The new images confirm two distinct hardware layouts for the upcoming Android handheld, along with a clearer look at its ports, vents, and rear controls.
In these live shots, the Retroid Pocket 6 appears in two color options: Black and a bright Orange variant that looks closer to yellow in real-world lighting (similar to a bold, high-visibility retro handheld shade). While the device is set to launch in six total colors, these are the only two shown so far.
More importantly, the photos highlight the Pocket 6’s two design configurations. One version places the D-Pad above the analog stick, while the other flips that arrangement with the D-Pad positioned at the bottom. In the images shared, the Black unit uses the D-Pad-on-top layout, while the yellow-looking unit shows the D-Pad-on-bottom version. This gives buyers a choice that can affect comfort depending on whether they prefer D-Pad-first retro gaming or stick-first control for 3D titles and streaming.
The additional angles also reveal key physical details. You can see the bottom ports and openings, the air vents for cooling, and the rear controls including two back buttons. Storage expansion is supported as well, thanks to a TF (microSD) card slot.
On the specs side, the Retroid Pocket 6 is positioned as a high-performance Android gaming handheld. It features a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a sharp 1080p resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Powering it is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, a flagship-grade chip that should handle demanding Android games, high-end emulation setups, and game streaming with ease.
Retroid is offering two memory and storage configurations:
– 8GB RAM with 128GB storage
– 12GB RAM with 256GB storage
Other notable features include a large 6,000mAh battery, Wi‑Fi 7 for faster and more stable wireless connections (especially useful for streaming and downloads), and Bluetooth 5.3 for controllers and audio accessories. The device is expected to ship with Android 13.
As for availability, the first batch of pre-orders is expected to start shipping in January 2026. Retroid has also opened a second batch of pre-orders, with shipping expected to begin in March 2026.
With these live photos now out in the open, the Retroid Pocket 6 is looking much closer to a finished consumer product—especially for buyers who want a premium screen, flagship-level performance, and the ability to choose between two different control layouts.
