GTA 6 Physical Pre-Orders May Include a Double-Sided Poster Instead of the Classic Map
GTA 6 is already one of the most anticipated game launches in years, and now physical edition buyers may have another reason to keep their pre-orders. A German retailer has shown what appears to be a double-sided GTA 6 poster bonus for PlayStation 5 and Xbox customers, giving collectors a new item to look forward to ahead of release.
The reveal is especially interesting because many longtime Grand Theft Auto fans have been disappointed by the apparent shift away from Rockstar’s traditional physical extras. In the past, boxed copies of major Rockstar games often included a printed map, turning the case into more than just packaging. For GTA 6, however, the official map is expected to be available separately through Rockstar’s website rather than included in every physical copy.
According to the retailer’s promotional images, the pre-order bonus is a folded, double-sided print. One side features the official GTA 6 cover artwork for the PS5 and Xbox versions. The other side shows a character image along with the phrase “Welcome to Vice City.” While that sounds like the perfect setup for a classic Grand Theft Auto map, the image shown does not appear to include a full layout of Vice City or the wider state of Leonida.
The big question is whether this poster is a store-specific giveaway or something that will be packed inside physical cases worldwide. The fact that the print appears folded and sized like an insert has sparked hope among fans that it could be included more broadly. However, for now, it seems confirmed only for customers who buy through MediaMarkt or Saturn in Germany.
This potential bonus arrives at a time when physical game collectors are already frustrated. GTA 6 physical copies are expected to come without a traditional disc, instead relying on a digital code-in-box approach. That means buyers may not get the same feeling of ownership that came with earlier Rockstar releases. A collectible poster may not fully replace a disc or a detailed paper map, but it does give fans something physical to hold onto.
The absence of a classic map is a particularly sensitive point for Grand Theft Auto fans. Since the original Grand Theft Auto launched in 1997, maps have been part of the series’ identity. They helped players understand the city, plan routes, and build excitement before even loading the game. Rockstar continued that tradition across several major releases, including entries in the Red Dead Redemption series.
For GTA 6, the official map is expected to arrive on or shortly after launch. Players may need to access it digitally, purchase it separately for a small fee, or obtain it through selected merchandise bundles. One premium collection already includes a Vice City-themed print, but that option is aimed more at dedicated collectors than everyday buyers.
With the GTA 6 release date now close, fans will not have to wait much longer to learn exactly what is inside the box. Pre-order customers are expected to begin collecting reservations on November 12, with major retailers likely shipping around the same time. Because GTA 6 is expected to require a download of more than 200 GB, PS5 and Xbox pre-loads are set to open two days earlier.
Even if the poster bonus becomes widely available, it probably will not satisfy players hoping for a detailed printed map of Leonida. Still, it could soften the disappointment for fans who prefer physical editions over digital purchases. For collectors, any official GTA 6 item included with a pre-order is likely to become a sought-after piece of launch memorabilia.
For now, the mystery remains: is the double-sided GTA 6 poster a regional retailer bonus, or is it a surprise waiting inside physical cases everywhere? With launch just days away, the answer should arrive very soon.
