GTA 6 Pre-Orders May Include a Physical Map, According to Retail Store Notice
GTA 6 is already one of the most anticipated game launches in history, and now fans may have another reason to consider buying the physical code-in-box version instead of going fully digital. A retail store notice reportedly suggests that some pre-orders could come with a physical GTA 6 collector’s map, continuing a long-running Rockstar Games tradition.
The report comes from a customer who shared an image of a notice displayed at a GameStop location in Pennsylvania. According to the sign, players who pre-order GTA 6 will receive a “physical collector’s map.” The notice also mentions the Vintage Vice City cosmetic pack as a pre-order bonus.
However, this does not mean players will get early access to the game. The notice reportedly says customers can pick up their purchase a week before the official GTA 6 release date, currently set for November 19. That would likely allow buyers to have the box and code ready ahead of launch, but not actually play the game early.
The biggest reason this rumor is gaining attention is because GTA 6 is expected to be sold without a traditional game disc on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Instead, the retail box is believed to include a digital download code. Many fans have been disappointed by that decision, especially collectors who prefer owning physical media.
A physical GTA 6 map could make the retail version more appealing. Rockstar Games has a long history of including printed maps with its major releases. Since the original Grand Theft Auto launched in 1997, players have often received a physical map showing the layout of the game world. GTA 5 included a map of Los Santos, while Red Dead Redemption 2 also featured a printed world map to help players explore its massive open world.
Because of that history, many fans believe it would feel unusual for Rockstar to release a boxed version of GTA 6 with nothing inside except a code. A collector’s map would be a simple but meaningful bonus, especially for players who enjoy physical items tied to major game releases.
Still, the claim should be treated carefully for now. The store sign appears to have been made locally, and it may not represent an official nationwide promotion. Some fans have also pointed out that the notice mentions content associated with premium digital editions, which has made them question whether the information is fully accurate.
At the same time, there have reportedly been similar claims from other retail locations, with some employees allegedly telling customers that a GTA 6 map will be included with pre-orders. That has kept the discussion alive, even though Rockstar has not officially confirmed that the standard retail version will include a printed map.
There is also a chance that the physical map could be limited to a more expensive collector-focused package. Rockstar has already revealed premium merchandise connected to GTA 6, including a high-priced Collector’s Box that contains multiple physical items. One of those items is a dual-sided poster showing regions of Leonida, the fictional state where GTA 6 takes place.
That raises an important question: will the standard code-in-box edition include a map, or will physical world-map content be reserved for the premium collector’s package?
For now, fans should wait for an official announcement before placing a pre-order based only on a store notice. Retailers may receive early promotional details, but local signage can sometimes be based on assumptions or incomplete information.
Even so, the possibility of a printed GTA 6 map has excited many longtime fans. For collectors, a physical map is more than just a bonus. It is part of the classic Rockstar experience, giving players something tangible to unfold, study, and keep long after finishing the game.
With the GTA 6 release date approaching, Rockstar Games still has time to reveal more pre-order details, retail bonuses, and collector items. Whether the physical map is included in standard pre-orders or reserved for a special edition, one thing is clear: even the smallest GTA 6 detail is enough to spark major excitement across the gaming community.
