Radeon RX 9060: Leaked Specs Reveal Matching Shader Count to XT Version with Reduced VRAM Speed

Rumors are swirling that AMD is gearing up to launch a non-XT version of the RX 9060 series, and if the specifications are accurate, the performance should be close to its XT counterpart.

The anticipated Radeon RX 9060 will retain the impressive shader and VRAM capacity found in the XT version but will feature GDDR6 VRAM clocked slightly slower at 18 Gbps. Although AMD hasn’t officially unveiled the RX 9060, industry whispers suggest this model aims to cater to budget-conscious gamers, offering similar power to past non-XT 60 class cards. Notably, the RX 9060 XT has already been positioned against competitors like the RTX 5060.

Historically, AMD’s RX X600 cards vie directly with NVIDIA’s RTX X060 lineup, and the RX 9060 appears poised to re-enter the under-$300 market. Reports indicate that the RX 9060 will mirror the XT version in many respects, using the same NAVI 44 die and maintaining the 2048 Stream Processors.

The key difference will be in VRAM speed. While the RX 9060 XT boasts GDDR6 VRAM at 20 Gbps, the non-XT model will slow it down to 18 Gbps, bringing the memory bandwidth from 320 GB/s to 288 GB/s—a reduction of roughly 10%. Additionally, the boost clock rate drops slightly, clocking in at 2.99 GHz, about 140 MHz less than the XT variant.

These statistics, however, should be taken with caution until AMD officially confirms them. Based on past trends, the RX 9060 should perform just a bit slower than the XT version. This mirrors the situation seen with previous lineup models like the RX 7600 and RX 7600 XT, which shared similar characteristics except for some variations in VRAM speed and capacity.

In terms of power consumption, a modest reduction is expected. The RX 9060 XT features a 150W TDP, and predictions put the non-XT model between 130W and 140W. The anticipated pricing is between $269 and $279, positioning it as a strong contender against NVIDIA’s offerings.

There’s buzz that the Radeon RX 9060 will only be accessible through system integrators, adding another layer to its market strategy. As enthusiasts await the official announcement, anticipation builds for a competitive addition to AMD’s lineup.
