Preorders Begin for Huawei Mate 70

Earlier today, exciting new details emerged about Huawei’s upcoming Mate 70 series of smartphones through a reveal on Weibo. Though pre-orders have begun, the Mate 70 series will currently be exclusive to the Chinese market. The series, set to be unveiled on November 26, will include the standard Mate 70, the enhanced Mate 70 Pro and Pro+, along with the luxurious Mate 70 RS Extraordinary Master Edition, which may also be known as the “Ultimate Edition” for English-speaking markets.

The Weibo post outlined several impressive specs for these new devices. The Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro are both designed to offer a substantial 12 GB of RAM and a massive 1 TB of internal storage. Stepping it up, the Mate 70 Pro+ is expected to feature an impressive 16 GB of RAM. While the basic model provides 66 W fast charging, the other variants support an ultra-fast 100 W charging capability.

In terms of photography, all models in the lineup include a 50 MP main camera. However, the differences lie in the additional sensors: the Pro model boasts a 50 MP telephoto camera, whereas the standard model features a 12 MP sensor. All models are equipped with a 16 MP infrared camera on the rear and a 13 MP front-facing camera for selfies.

Furthermore, each model offers a distinct selection of colors. The Mate 70 comes in black, white, green, and purple, while the Pro+ is available in silver, white, black, and blue. For those looking for the top-tier Ultimate Edition, choices are limited to red and black.

Under the hood, the Mate 70 series is driven by Huawei’s powerful Kirin 9100 chipset and runs on HarmonyOS Next. However, a limitation is that this operating system does not support Android apps. As speculations hint at a potential global release next year, Huawei will need to strategize a software solution to enhance its global appeal.

For enthusiasts eager to experience Huawei’s technology, the Mate 50 Pro (8/256 GB, International Version) is available on Amazon for $675, down from its original $899 due to a running 25% discount.
