Huion Kamvas Pad 12 Arrives as a Creator-Focused Android Tablet With a 2.4K Display and Battery-Free Pen
Huion has introduced the Kamvas Pad 12, a new Android drawing tablet designed specifically for artists, illustrators, students, and digital content creators who want a portable creative workspace without relying on a separate computer. Priced at $499, the tablet enters the mid-range market with a feature set that leans heavily toward pen performance, color accuracy, and everyday productivity.
While many tablets in this price range focus mainly on entertainment or general use, the Kamvas Pad 12 is built around digital drawing and note-taking. Its biggest highlight is the 12.2-inch fully laminated LCD display, which offers a 2400 x 1600 resolution in a 3:2 aspect ratio. That taller screen shape gives users more vertical space, making it useful for sketching, reading, editing documents, and working with creative apps.
The display also supports a 90 Hz refresh rate, helping pen strokes and scrolling feel smoother than standard 60 Hz panels. Huion says the screen reaches up to 350 nits of peak brightness and covers 99% of the sRGB color gamut, which should make it a solid option for artists who need dependable color reproduction for digital painting, illustration, and design work.
A major part of the Kamvas Pad 12 experience is its stylus technology. The tablet uses Huion’s PenTech 4.0 system and comes with the PW600C pen. The pen does not require charging, thanks to EMR technology, which is a welcome advantage for creators who want to draw without worrying about battery levels.
For precision work, the stylus supports 16,384 levels of pressure sensitivity, 60 degrees of tilt recognition, and a 260 PPS report rate. Huion also lists a 5800 LPI pen resolution, which should help with accurate line control, shading, and detailed artwork. These specifications make the tablet especially appealing for users who prioritize a natural pen-on-screen drawing feel.
Inside, the Kamvas Pad 12 is powered by a 6 nm MediaTek Genio 720 processor. The chip features an octa-core CPU with two Cortex-A78 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores, paired with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. While it is not positioned as a high-end performance tablet, the hardware should be capable enough for drawing apps, media playback, web browsing, note-taking, light multitasking, and everyday Android use.
Storage expansion is also available through a microSD slot, giving creators extra room for artwork, references, project files, photos, and videos. This is a practical addition, especially for users who work with large image files or prefer to keep their creative library offline.
The tablet includes an 8,000 mAh battery, which should provide a reasonable amount of working time for mobile creativity. It also features a quad-speaker setup, making it useful for watching tutorials, joining online classes, or enjoying entertainment between creative sessions.
For cameras, Huion includes a 13 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front camera. These should be suitable for scanning references, capturing quick images, attending video calls, and handling basic photography needs.
Connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.4, and the tablet runs Android 16 out of the box. Its dimensions come in at around 281.5 x 195.5 x 7.8 mm, while the weight is approximately 665 grams. That makes it slim enough to carry in a bag, though still large enough to provide a comfortable drawing area.
Overall, the Huion Kamvas Pad 12 stands out as a creator-first Android tablet with a sharp 2.4K display, strong stylus specifications, expandable storage, and a portable design. For digital artists looking for a standalone drawing tablet under $500, it offers a compelling combination of pen performance, display quality, and everyday tablet features.
