Huion Unveils Budget-Friendly 22-Inch QHD Pen Display Rivaling Wacom, Featuring 90Hz Smoothness and RGB Glow

Huion is sharpening its position as a strong Wacom alternative with the Kamvas 22 Gen 3, a 22-inch pen display that brings meaningful upgrades where artists and designers actually feel them: sharper visuals, smoother on-screen motion, improved brightness, and more color-focused features right out of the box.

The biggest leap is the move to a QHD resolution, a clear step up from the 1080p panels used on earlier 22-inch models. On a screen this size, that extra detail matters. With a pixel density of 137 PPI, lines look cleaner, text is easier to read, and intricate brushwork feels more precise—especially when zooming in and out less frequently during illustration, photo editing, or 3D work.

Huion keeps the matte surface coating that helps reduce glare and gives the drawing feel more friction and control, and it pairs the display with its battery-free PenTech 4.0 PW600L stylus. If you prefer a pen that never needs charging and maintains consistent performance during long sessions, this setup checks that box.

Another upgrade aimed squarely at a better drawing experience is the 90 Hz refresh rate. A higher refresh rate can make cursor movement and strokes look noticeably smoother, which is great for sketching, line art, and fast hand motion. There is one caveat: the screen’s 14 ms response time could slightly limit motion clarity at 90 Hz, since around 11 ms is a better target for crisp movement at that refresh rate. Still, it should feel smoother than standard 60 Hz displays in many real-world art workflows.

Brightness has also been improved. Huion bumps the Kamvas 22 Gen 3 up to 250 nits, compared to 220 nits on earlier versions. It’s not a dramatic jump, but it is a practical improvement—about 14%—and can make the screen easier to work on in brighter rooms.

For creators who care about color accuracy, the Kamvas 22 Gen 3 leans into calibration and wide coverage. It comes factory calibrated and includes multiple color modes: Native, sRGB, Rec.709, AdobeRGB, Display P3, plus a black-and-white mode designed to reduce eye strain. Huion also claims delta-E values below 1.2, along with 99% coverage of sRGB and Rec.709, 90% AdobeRGB, and 94% Display P3. On paper, that makes it a compelling choice not only for digital illustration and 3D sculpting, but also for graphic design and photo editing where predictable color matters.

Huion also adds ergonomic and quality-of-life touches. The Kamvas 22 Gen 3 includes customizable ambient lighting intended to help reduce eye strain during long sessions. Connectivity remains flexible with two options: a USB-C connection with DP Alt Mode for a cleaner setup, plus a 3-in-1 cable that combines USB, power, and HDMI for wider compatibility. For positioning and comfort, the included ST100D stand supports angles from 20 to 80 degrees, making it easier to find a posture that works whether you’re sketching, painting, or doing detailed retouching. There’s also a clip-on pen holder that attaches to the top of the display, a small but genuinely useful addition for keeping your stylus within easy reach.

With a sharper QHD panel, 90 Hz refresh rate, improved brightness, factory calibration, and creator-friendly ergonomics, the Huion Kamvas 22 Gen 3 looks built to offer a more premium drawing experience without pushing into the pricing territory many artists associate with top-tier pen displays.
