Apple’s latest iPhone 16 series launch isn’t hitting the high notes many expected. According to industry insider Ming-Chi Kuo, pre-order sales for the new lineup are falling short. This subdued demand puts a wrinkle in the anticipated iPhone supercycle.
For those eagerly awaiting an AI-driven revolution with the iPhone 16, the news may come as a disappointment. In his Medium newsletter, Kuo notes that pre-orders for the iPhone 16 series have been significantly lower compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 15. Citing sources within the supply chain, Kuo reveals that the iPhone 16 Pro, in particular, has seen less enthusiasm, causing an overall dip in pre-orders by 12.7%.
One of the eagerly anticipated features was the integration of Apple Intelligence, a suite of AI capabilities expected to elevate user experiences. However, Apple has decided on a gradual introduction of these AI features, which means they are currently absent from the iPhone 16 series at launch. This staggered approach seems to have impacted initial sales figures.
Despite the lukewarm reception, Kuo is optimistic that these initial sales woes won’t disrupt production targets. With the impending release of Apple Intelligence and the lucrative holiday season on the horizon, Apple is poised to see a boost in sales. Whether this optimism translates into reality will be evident in the coming months.
As we navigate these unfolding developments, all eyes will be on Apple to see if their strategic rollout can turn the tide and drive the anticipated increase in adoption.
