Earlier this year, fans of Forza Horizon 5 got a thrilling surprise: the game, initially exclusive to Xbox and PC for nearly four years, was released on the PlayStation 5. Marking a significant milestone, it launched on the PS5 on April 29, becoming the first Forza title to step beyond the confines of Xbox and PC platforms.
The excitement didn’t end there. According to Zuby_Tech on X, Forza Horizon 5 achieved impressive sales on the PS5, reaching two million units sold within just one month. This information surfaced from the LinkedIn page of former Xbox employee, Harrison Bolin, who played a pivotal role as a game designer at Turn 10 Studios.
Bolin’s contribution involved designing cross-platform features that facilitated this milestone. His achievement is noteworthy, especially since the game had initially launched years earlier. Though the total sales figures are currently unknown, they are likely well beyond two million as additional time has passed.
However, the Xbox community is also witnessing some changes. Recent layoffs have significantly impacted Turn 10 Studios, renowned for the Forza Motorsport series. The studio experienced a substantial reduction in staff and has shifted its focus to supporting the Forza Horizon series, now primarily developed by Playground Games. The Forza Motorsport series has reportedly been discontinued, allowing Forza Horizon to shine, with a new installment anticipated next year.
This development opens a new chapter for Turn 10 Studios and fans await what’s next in the evolving landscape of racing games.
