Google’s latest flagship, the Pixel 9 Pro XL, is facing some challenging issues that have left users frustrated. Despite its state-of-the-art features, the smartphone has been reported to have a troubling touchscreen glitch. According to user reports, the handset’s corners are not registering touch inputs, rendering some functions unusable.
While a quick reboot of the phone appears to offer a temporary fix, this is far from a permanent solution. Google will need to roll out an official update to address these persistent touchscreen problems.
Adding to the growing list of grievances, earlier reports emerged about camera glitches. Users noted that video recordings were flipping during certain zoom levels and lens changes. These reports first appeared in a Reddit thread in late August, and have since garnered plenty of attention. More recently, users have also flagged issues with the phone’s wireless charging capabilities. Touchscreen woes have only compounded users’ frustration.
A Reddit user named Lean_account started a thread about the touchscreen issue 11 days ago, which has since seen several confirmations from other users. Another user, Mx772, received confirmation from an official Google account that this is indeed a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) situation.
For now, those who can’t get past these annoying glitches have the option to return their handsets and hope for a fully functional replacement. Google seems to be gearing up to resolve the issue with an October update, coinciding with the release of Android 15, which is currently in Beta 1.1 stage. This indicates that the problem is likely software-related. No official statement has been made by Google yet, but a silent update later this month could be on the horizon to quietly fix the problem.
Meanwhile, the Pixel 9 Pro XL, with 128 GB of storage, is priced at $1,099 on Amazon. It’s available in three colors: Hazel, Obsidian, and Porcelain.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to monitor this unfolding story. It’s crucial for Google to address these issues promptly to maintain its reputation and customer satisfaction.
