Oppo has just unveiled its latest addition to the smartphone market, the Oppo A5 Pro, building upon the success of its predecessor, the A3 Pro, while introducing a fresh look and enhanced features. Although it might not boast the typical rugged smartphone aesthetics, its durability is certainly up to par with those tougher models.
Debuting in China, the Oppo A5 Pro brings with it a new flat frame design and rounded corners for a comfortable grip. The back of the phone features a circular camera island with a distinct ring design that sets it apart from its predecessor.
This model is designed for toughness, surviving falls from heights up to 1.8 meters, thanks to Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection up front and Oppo Crystal Shield Glass at the back. It can withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -35°C to 63°C, endure sandstorms, high humidity, and the force of a violent impact. What’s more, the triple IP rating (IP69, IP68, and IP66) ensures the phone is resistant to water immersion, various liquid spills, and even high-pressure jets of water.
The Oppo A5 Pro flaunts a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with slightly curved edges and a peak brightness of 1200 nits. It is fitted with Oppo’s Splash Touch technology to maintain screen responsiveness in wet conditions and supports glove mode. At its core is a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, accompanied by either 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and storage options of 256GB or 512GB of UFS 3.1.
Despite the impressive durability and solid specs, the camera setup might leave some wanting more. The rear features a 50MP primary camera paired with a 2MP monochrome sensor, while the front houses a 16MP selfie camera.
Oppo has also included a bigger 6,000mAh battery that charges rapidly at 80W, an in-display fingerprint scanner, face unlock, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, dual SIM capabilities, and stereo speakers.
This robust and stylish phone comes in four attractive colors—Red, Rock Black, Quartz White, and Sandstone Purple. The pricing begins at ¥1,999 (~$274/€264) for the base model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, scaling up to ¥2,499 (~$343/€330) for the top-tier variant with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
With the Oppo A5 Pro’s combination of durability, enhanced battery capacity, and appealing design, the phone is set to cater to users looking for a resilient yet sophisticated device.
