OneXPlayer’s OneXFly Apex Debuts as the First Liquid-Cooled Handheld Gaming PC with AMD Strix Halo and Up to 128GB RAM

After weeks of teasing, One-Netbook is finally pulling the curtain back on the OneXFly Apex, a powerhouse handheld under the OneXPlayer brand built around AMD’s Strix Halo platform. This compact PC aims to deliver laptop-level gaming performance in a portable form factor, pairing that silicon with up to 128 GB of RAM, an 8-inch variable refresh rate display, and a sizable 85 Wh battery.

Early performance footage shared by the company is eye-opening. In a demo, the OneXFly Apex runs Cyberpunk 2077 at 1200p with ray tracing enabled and no upscaling turned on, yet still keeps frame rates above 60 FPS. That’s a notable leap from handhelds based on AMD’s Strix Point chips, such as the OneXFly F1 Pro, which typically struggle under the same conditions.

Cooling is a headline feature. One-Netbook says the Apex will support an external liquid cooling solution designed to sustain a hefty 120 W TDP. The company hasn’t shown exactly how the add-on attaches or operates yet, but if it works as promised, it could dramatically improve sustained performance and reduce thermal throttling during long sessions.

The Apex enters a rapidly heating handheld market. GPD’s Win 5, which also leverages the same AMD platform, opts for a smaller 7-inch display and an external battery approach to unlock more internal cooling headroom. By contrast, the OneXFly Apex pushes a larger 8-inch VRR panel and an 85 Wh battery, signaling a focus on endurance and visual fluidity without sacrificing power.

Key highlights at a glance:
– AMD Strix Halo APU for next-gen handheld performance
– Up to 128 GB RAM for heavy multitasking and demanding games
– 8-inch variable refresh rate display for smoother visuals
– 85 Wh battery aimed at longer play sessions
– Optional external liquid cooling to handle up to 120 W TDP
– Demonstrated 60+ FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1200p with ray tracing and no upscaling

One-Netbook will officially launch the OneXFly Apex on October 28 at 11:00 UTC, where full specifications, the cooling module design, and availability details are expected. If the final product delivers on these early promises, the Apex could set a new bar for AMD-powered gaming handhelds, blending high-refresh portable gaming with desktop-like performance and smart thermal management. Stay tuned for pricing, VRR ranges, storage configurations, and real-world battery life under sustained loads.
