OnePlus 16 Gets a Fantasy-Inspired Gift Box Ahead of Its China Launch
OnePlus is adding a collector-focused twist to the upcoming OnePlus 16 launch. Ahead of the phone’s official debut in China on October 12, the company has unveiled a special co-branded gift box inspired by A Record of a Mortal’s Journey to Immortality, the popular Chinese animated series based on Wang Yu’s web novel.
The limited-themed package is designed around the series’ iconic sword elements, giving fans a mix of smartphone accessories and anime-inspired collectibles. The standout item is a rotatable metal stand shaped like a sword array. It holds the OnePlus 16 magnetically, turning the phone into part of the display rather than just another device on a desk.
The box includes five themed items in total. Alongside the rotating magnetic sword-array stand, buyers will find a metal SIM ejector tool shaped like a sword, a magnetic protective case inspired by the Green Bamboo Bee Cloud Sword, a transparent postcard, and a sliding fridge magnet. The SIM ejector and protective case are both modeled after the signature weapon used by Han Li, the main character of the story.
For now, OnePlus has not confirmed how much the gift box will cost, how many units will be available, or which OnePlus 16 storage and memory configuration will be bundled with it. That mystery could make the package even more appealing to collectors, especially fans of the animated series.
Beyond the special edition box, the OnePlus 16 itself is shaping up to be a major performance-focused flagship. The phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, paired with an updated version of OnePlus’ Fengchi Gaming Kernel. This software tuning is designed to improve sustained gaming performance, which should appeal to mobile gamers looking for high frame rates and better stability during long sessions.
The display is another major highlight. OnePlus says the phone uses a fourth-generation Oriental display developed with BOE. The panel can reach up to 185Hz refresh rate in supported games, while everyday system use can run at up to 165Hz. That makes the OnePlus 16 one of the most aggressive gaming-oriented flagship phones announced for the Chinese market so far.
Battery life also looks like a key selling point. The OnePlus 16 will feature a massive 9,000mAh Glacier Battery, supported by 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. If the real-world performance matches the numbers, the phone could offer unusually strong endurance while still charging quickly.
On the camera side, OnePlus has confirmed a 200MP main camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and the company’s LUMO light-condensing system. A telephoto camera using Sony’s IMX882 sensor will also be included, offering 3x optical zoom. The setup suggests OnePlus wants the OnePlus 16 to compete not only as a gaming powerhouse but also as a serious camera flagship.
The phone also brings upgraded positioning technology, including tri-frequency GPS and quad-frequency BeiDou support. OnePlus describes this as a first for the series, which could improve navigation accuracy in dense city areas and other challenging environments.
The OnePlus 16 launches in China on October 12. Pricing for the phone and the special A Record of a Mortal’s Journey to Immortality gift box has not yet been announced, but the combination of a 9,000mAh battery, Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 power, a 185Hz gaming display, and a 200MP camera is already making it one of the most eye-catching flagship releases to watch.
