Olight ArkTac Ultra Debuts With 1,800 Lumens, Multi-Light Design, and USB-C Charging
Olight has unveiled the ArkTac Ultra and ArkTac, two new flat everyday carry flashlights inspired by the ArkPro design but upgraded with fresh features, improved controls, and a more refined build. Announced during O Fan Day, the new models aim to offer a practical lighting tool for both regular users and professionals who need reliable illumination in compact form.
The flagship model, the Olight ArkTac Ultra, delivers up to 1,800 lumens and keeps the familiar flat flashlight layout that made the ArkPro series stand out. Its slim shape is designed for pocket carry, bags, tool kits, and everyday use, while the multi-light setup gives users more flexibility than a standard flashlight.
One of the biggest upgrades is the new aluminum unibody construction. Olight says the ArkTac Ultra uses its proprietary OAL2 aluminum alloy, designed to be tougher and more durable than the earlier OAL material used in several of the brand’s previous Ultra models. For users who carry a flashlight daily or use it in demanding environments, the stronger body should make the ArkTac Ultra more resistant to wear and damage.
The ArkTac Ultra includes five lighting options: floodlight, spotlight, UV light, red light, and green laser. This makes it suitable for a wide range of tasks, from close-range work and long-distance visibility to inspection, signaling, and low-light navigation. In selected regions, Olight says the green laser can be switched from Class 1 to Class 3R intensity, though the higher-powered laser mode will not be offered in Europe.
Olight has also refined the front control area. While the dashboard layout remains similar to the ArkPro, the ArkTac Ultra adds three softly illuminated indicators that show which light source is active, even in darkness. This small but useful upgrade should make the flashlight easier to operate at night or in low-visibility settings.
The battery indicator has also been improved with a new battery-safe mode. This mode is designed to extend basic operation by up to two additional hours, giving users extra runtime when the battery is running low. For outdoor use, emergency situations, or professional work, that added reserve could be an important advantage.
Another major change is found on the back of the flashlight. The ArkTac Ultra introduces new rear controls, including two tail switches that were not available on the ArkPro series. These switches provide faster access to certain lighting modes, making the flashlight more practical when quick operation is needed.
Safety has also received attention. The ArkTac series includes a new sensor that can measure the distance to nearby objects. This helps prevent accidental activation when the flashlight is stored in a backpack, pocket, or pouch. Since high-output flashlights can become very hot, this feature is intended to reduce the risk of heat buildup and accidental burns or damage.
Alongside the ArkTac Ultra, Olight is launching the standard ArkTac. This model is positioned as the more affordable option for everyday users, while the Ultra is aimed more toward professionals, including those in security-related fields.
The regular ArkTac still offers a flat everyday carry design and strong brightness, but it comes with a reduced feature set. It does not include the green laser or the illuminated dashboard indicators found on the Ultra version. It also does not use the newer OAL2 aluminum alloy. Brightness is slightly lower at 1,700 lumens, though the real-world difference between 1,700 and 1,800 lumens is likely to be minor for most users.
Both the ArkTac Ultra and ArkTac support USB Type-C charging, which is a welcome upgrade for anyone who prefers modern charging standards. Olight has also updated its magnetic charging cable. The new MCC4 cable offers faster charging and, for the first time, uses USB Type-C for connection to a power adapter instead of the older USB Type-A design.
Pricing is set at $160 for the Olight ArkTac Ultra, with availability expected before the end of 2026. A premium ArkTac Ultra package will also be offered for $200, including the new MCC4 cable and a magnetic mounting system. The standard ArkTac will be priced at $120.
With a slim body, multiple light sources, stronger materials, USB-C charging, improved controls, and added safety features, the Olight ArkTac Ultra looks like a meaningful evolution of the ArkPro concept. For users looking for a compact everyday carry flashlight with professional-grade versatility, the ArkTac Ultra may be one of Olight’s most feature-packed flat flashlights yet.
