Nothing Phone (2a) Introduces Glyph Interface in New Teaser

As smartphone enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the global unveiling of the Nothing Phone (2a) on March 5th, the company has put rumors to rest by confirming that its upcoming handset will indeed showcase the Glyph interface. An intriguing CGI promotional unboxing video has been released, offering the first official glimpse at what consumers can expect from the Glyph lights on the Nothing Phone (2a).

Redesigned Glyph Lights Around the Camera Module

The teaser reveals that the Nothing Phone (2a) will feature a revised set of Glyph lights surrounding its dual-camera setup. Unlike the flagship Nothing Phone 2, which boasts 11 Glyph lights, the more budget-friendly 2a version will come with three modules. This reduction in Glyph lights is a strategic decision to maintain the phone’s affordability.

In addition to the Glyph light configuration, the CGI video also unveils a fresh rear camera placement for the Nothing Phone (2a). Its horizontally-aligned dual rear cameras are positioned centrally to give the appearance reminiscent of a robot’s eyes. Consistent with past models, the upcoming budget phone retains the transparent design at the back, continuing the brand’s iconic look.

Budget-Friendly Nothing Phone with Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC

Pre-launch details confirm that the Nothing Phone (2a) will house a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC, a custom-tuned version of the base Dimensity 7200 chip developed jointly by Nothing and MediaTek for this specific model. Anticipated storage options include 8GB and 12GB RAM variants, accompanied by either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage.

As for the phone’s display, rumors point to a 6.7-inch OLED screen boasting a full HD+ resolution and a swift 120Hz refresh rate. In terms of camera capabilities, the device may feature a 50MP primary sensor alongside a 50MP ultrawide lens. The front of the phone could house a 32MP selfie camera, smartly embedded within a screen punch-hole.

Running on NothingOS 2.5, which is based on Android 14, the Nothing Phone (2a) aims to deliver a cutting-edge software experience. While specific details about the battery capacity are not yet disclosed, there is speculation that it may support 45W fast charging. However, given its position as a budget device, wireless charging is not expected to be included.

When it comes to pricing, forecasts suggest that the Nothing Phone (2a) will be competitively priced, with the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model potentially starting at around €349/$380. The higher-capacity 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration could be priced at approximately €399/$430. For the most accurate details and updates, the March 5th event will be the one to watch.
