Nitecore has officially pulled the curtain back on the Pocket 5, a compact magnetic power bank built for people who want fast, convenient charging without carrying extra cables. The company previously previewed the device at IWA in Nuremberg, but this is the first time the Pocket 5 has been fully revealed as a ready-to-launch product.
At its core, the Pocket 5 is a 5,000 mAh power bank designed to snap onto the back of MagSafe- and Qi2-compatible phones for magnetic wireless charging. While “5,000 mAh” is a common capacity in this category, Nitecore is emphasizing real energy storage: the Pocket 5 is rated at 19.35 Wh, slightly above the more typical 18.50 Wh seen in many standard 5,000 mAh power banks. The company also specifies usable output, stating it can deliver 17 Wh at a draw of 2.4A at 5V—helpful details that make it easier to compare real-world performance rather than just headline capacity.
Portability is clearly a focus. The Pocket 5 measures 9 mm (0.35 in) thick and weighs 125 g (4.4 oz), positioning it as a slim, pocket-friendly option for everyday carry. While it isn’t the thinnest magnetic power bank on the market, it balances size with added functionality that frequent travelers and commuters may appreciate.
One of the standout features is the integrated USB-C cable. This built-in cable lets you charge other devices at up to 22.5W, which is particularly useful if you need to top up earbuds, a secondary phone, or other USB-C gadgets without packing an extra cord. Recharging the power bank itself tops out at 18W through its USB-C port. Nitecore also designed the cable to loop into the USB-C port, turning it into a simple carrying handle—an uncommon but practical touch for grabbing and going.
The Pocket 5 also supports pass-through charging, meaning you can charge the power bank while it charges another device. This can be a major convenience on a desk or nightstand when outlets are limited, especially thanks to the multiple I/O options available.
Durability is another key point. Nitecore says the Pocket 5 offers IPX7 water resistance and an expanded operating temperature range of -10 to 35°C (14 to 95°F), making it better suited for outdoor use, travel, and unpredictable weather than many typical slim power banks.
The Pocket 5 is set to arrive in three color options: Cobalt Blue, Titanium Gray, and Alloy Orange. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but with its Qi2/MagSafe magnetic attachment, integrated USB-C cable, fast wired output, and water resistance, it’s shaping up to be a compelling option for anyone looking for a sleek, travel-ready 5,000 mAh magnetic power bank.
