Nintendo has expanded its Game Boy Advance library for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers, adding three more handheld classics to the Nintendo Classics app on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
The latest update brings Metal Slug Advance, Monster Rancher Advance, and Kururin Paradise to the service, giving retro gaming fans another reason to revisit Nintendo’s portable era. The standout addition for many players is Kururin Paradise, a puzzle-action game that was previously released only in Japan. With this update, players in North America and Europe can officially experience it for the first time.
Metal Slug Advance originally launched in 2004 and brings SNK’s fast-paced run-and-gun action to the Game Boy Advance lineup. Known for its explosive gameplay, detailed sprite work, and arcade-style challenge, the Metal Slug series has long been a favorite among fans of classic action games. This handheld entry keeps the series’ signature chaos intact while offering a portable twist designed for shorter play sessions.
Monster Rancher Advance adds a very different flavor to the collection. First released in Japan in 2001 before arriving in North America in 2002, the game is a life-simulation and monster-raising title from Tecmo. Players train, raise, and battle creatures while managing their growth and development. Its mix of strategy, collection, and simulation makes it a nostalgic pick for fans who enjoyed creature-training games during the Game Boy Advance era.
Kururin Paradise, released in Japan in 2002, is the sequel to Kuru Kuru Kururin. Developed by Eighting, the game challenges players to guide a constantly rotating stick-like vehicle through narrow mazes without hitting the walls. Its simple concept becomes increasingly tricky as stages introduce tighter spaces, moving obstacles, and clever level designs. Since the game never received an official Western release during the GBA’s original run, its arrival on Nintendo Switch Online is a notable moment for retro game collectors and curious newcomers alike.
These three additions continue Nintendo’s steady rollout of classic handheld titles through the Expansion Pack tier. Earlier in the year, Mario vs. Donkey Kong joined the Game Boy Advance catalog in March, followed by Dr. Mario & Puzzle League in July. Nintendo also added more NES and Famicom games to the service in September, showing that the company is continuing to refresh its retro libraries across multiple platforms.
Game Boy Advance games first became available on Nintendo Switch Online in February 2023 as part of the Expansion Pack subscription. That premium tier also includes access to Nintendo 64 and Sega Mega Drive titles, making it the main option for players who want a broader selection of classic games on modern Nintendo hardware.
With Metal Slug Advance, Monster Rancher Advance, and Kururin Paradise now available, the Game Boy Advance collection on Nintendo Switch Online continues to grow into a stronger library for retro fans. Whether you want arcade-style action, creature-raising strategy, or a quirky Japanese puzzle gem, this update adds a little something for every kind of classic gaming fan.
